CapitaLand Group to relocate to Westgate Tower in 2015

Westgate targets to meet BCA Green Mark Platinum and Universal Design standards

Singapore, 14 August 2012 – CapitaLand Limited today announced that the CapitaLand Group will relocate to Westgate Tower progressively from early 2015. The Group will occupy 11 floors, a total of about 160,000 square feet (sq ft) of the new 20-storey prime office tower. The relocation will further enhance staff interaction and sense of belonging and provide for a holistic sustainable workplace so that it becomes more productive for all. This centralised destination for “work, live and play” will strongly motivate and integrate the Group as one united family-like organisation.

Presently, CapitaLand operates from different buildings in Singapore. Besides Capital Tower, Robinson Point and AXA Tower which are in Singapore‟s Central Business District, CapitaLand also operates out of Wilkie Edge in Wilkie Road, Ascott Centre for Excellence at Anthony Road and the CapitaLand Institute of Management and Business at Beach View, Sentosa. While the Group will be relocated to Westgate Tower, CapitaLand will maintain a city office at Capital Tower as a flexible workspace for staff that needs to liaise with their clients or business partners in the city.

Westgate is being jointly developed by CapitaMalls Asia, CapitaMall Trust Management Limited (the manager of CapitaMall Trust) and CapitaLand. The parties broke ground for Westgate – comprising a shopping mall and a prime office tower – in January 2012. The 416,000 sq ft lifestyle and family mall is expected to be opened by end-2013 while the 320,000 sq ft office tower is slated for completion in end-2014.

Westgate will be a new landmark in Jurong Gateway, continuing the transformation of the Jurong Lake District into a key regional business hub. It is at the gateway of the Jurong Lake District, and is the only development to be directly linked to both the Jurong East MRT and bus interchanges as well as nearby amenities such as the upcoming Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Its direct connectivity to the transportation nodes makes it convenient for employees who take public transport to work. Westgate Tower will be fully integrated with the mall and facilities such as childcare services, fitness club and a swimming pool, to offer a one-stop work-play destination. Its efficient column-free floor plates of about 17,000 sq ft also allow for flexibility of workspace design. In line with CapitaLand’s commitment to sustainable development, Westgate is designed with “green” features that are targeted to meet both the Green Mark Platinum and Universal Design standards set by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore.

Westgate, located closest to both the MRT and bus interchanges, will be a seven-storey lifestyle and family mall, catering to families, working professionals and residents in the Western region, as well as hospital visitors and commuters travelling through Jurong.

The architects drew inspiration from Jurong‟s original landscape to create an urban lifestyle oasis with an idyllic ambience resembling shophouses and streets, designed to facilitate the flow of people from the MRT and bus interchanges to Westgate. The “Village Green”, a semi-outdoor landscaped low-rise zone closest to the MRT interchange, will be an urban park with lush landscaped areas for tenants, shoppers and visitors to meet and socialise. Elegant bridges connect this zone to the retail podium and high-rise office tower.

Also in close proximity to Westgate are the ultra-hip JCube and value-focused IMM shopping malls, both owned by CapitaMall Trust and managed by CapitaMalls Asia.

Mr Liew Mun Leong, President and CEO of CapitaLand Group, said: “The relocation will be a milestone for CapitaLand Group. For the first time, all business units in Singapore and the corporate office will operate from a single location. We want to create a conducive environment that will help to further improve productivity across the Group and achieve work-life integration. It is about creating a workplace that will redefine „work‟, embrace our core values and a concept that allows everyday activities to be carried out within one location, so that it becomes more productive for all – a one-stop destination for all to work, live and play.”

He added: “We are pleased that Westgate, sited within Jurong Gateway – the biggest commercial hub outside the Central Business District – will provide the ideal location for the Group to be housed under one roof. We look forward to playing a significant role in transforming the Jurong Lake District into a key regional business hub.”
